On 20.07.2022 our Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, on the issue of the protection of sea turtles in Cyprus.
With this memorandum, our Foundation, through the Cyprus Environmental Studies Center that we operate in Kritou Terra, will have an active role now in matters of protection and conservation of sea turtles on our island, with the involvement, management and training of groups of volunteers and academic institutions.
With this involvement, in collaboration with the species monitoring team in Cyprus and always under the guidance of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, we look forward to strengthening the actions for awareness, conservation and protection of sea turtles on the island, to benefit the local communities and enrich our knowledge of this very important animal species.
All together, we will work for the protection and promotion of the sea turtles of our island, and this is a promise.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr. Costas Kadis and the Director General of the Ministry Mr. Andreas A. Grigoriou, the Director of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research Ms. Marina Argyrou and the Executive Director of our Foundation Mr. Lefkios Sergides.
