The inauguration was performed by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Kostas Kadis, on August 17, in the presence of the Prefect of Paphos, Ms. Mary Lambrou.
The Regional Multipurpose Center Akamas is located in the old Primary School of Kathika and includes guest rooms, a canteen area and an educational space for young people.
About a year ago, our Foundation signed a cooperation contract with the Kathikas Community Council for the management of the Akamas Regional Multipurpose Center, something that we are happy about. Through this partnership the aim is to bring as many visitors to the community as possible and support the small, local businesses of the community. In addition, we are all working together to promote the environmental awareness in our society and more environmental projects and events in Kathikas and Akamas area.
To date, and despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, we have hosted over 250 students for educational environmental programs, while the community also benefits from those programs. The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Mr. Costas Kadis, amongst others, stated that the Akamas Regional Multipurpose Center is an emblematic project both for the community of Kathikas and for the Akamas area, as it is expected to add value to the area.
