The first two-day training workshop of the Active Minds project was successfully completed on the 14 th
and 15 th of January, taking place at the Akamas Regional Multipurpose Centre in Kathikas.
The project is implemented by the Office of the Citizens' Commissioner and the National Betting
Authority. The implementation of the first workshop was carried out by our Foundation and AKTI Centre
for Studies and Research.
The aim of the workshop was to bring together young people between the ages of 18 and 40 from all
areas of the island for discussion, collaboration, and interactive activities to acquire active citizenship
and civic skills.
During the two-day event, the participants were focused on environmental issues in Cyprus, the
definition of environmental sustainability, and the were informed about the practices applied both in
Cyprus and abroad, and suggested solutions to the specific issues without damaging the planet.
Furthermore, the workshop was about active citizen participation and the application of critical thinking
to propose solutions and make decisions for a better and more sustainable future.
The Active Minds project will continue the trainings and workshops in the remaining provinces of Cyprus
in the coming period.
