Our foundation’s efforts to halt the rally in the Paphos Forest have paid off. After demanding the immediate cancellation of the event in this sensitive area through a press release and public statements, the “Aphrodite Rally 2025” was ultimately held on routes outside the Paphos Forest and the Natura 2000 network.
On March 14, we emphasized that hosting a high-speed car race (rally) in the Paphos State Forest, within the Natura 2000 Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and Special Protection Area (SPA), constituted a clear violation of European Union directives and Cyprus’ national legislation on nature conservation and biodiversity protection.
On the same day, Minister of Environment Maria Panayiotou announced in a public statement that the rally would not take place within the Paphos Forest.
