On 14 June 2025, people from across the island came together for a full-day outdoor experience in the heart of the Troodos Mountains, as part of the Environmental Caretakers project.

Starting from Kampos tou Livadiou, participants hiked through rich pine forests, explored the geological wonders and biodiversity of the Troodos ecosystem, and enjoyed a shared picnic in nature. Guided by our Foundation, the group learned to identify native species, discussed the environmental challenges facing the island, and reflected on how each of us can take action in our communities.

A key highlight of the day was the hands-on introduction to the new Environmental Caretakers mobile app, a tool designed to help young people document and report environmental issues they encounter in everyday life. Participants tested the app in the field and provided valuable feedback.

This event is part of a growing movement across Cyprus that combines education, technology, and youth collaboration to build a more sustainable future. Through guided fieldwork, interactive tools, and shared purpose, the Environmental Caretakers project is building a powerful network of people committed to protecting the island’s natural heritage.

Stay tuned for more actions around the island, and join us in supporting the future of our environment, together.
