The Pandoteira project participated at the Bouldering Festival on Saturday, 11 May, in Inia. Members of our team informed the participants about the strong connection between the sport of bouldering and the Natura 2000 network, as climbers are a group that has direct contact with nature and the protected areas that fall within the network.
We provided information material to the attendees, about the flora and fauna they may encounter on their routes and how they should deal with them. We focused on reptiles, in which cases a snake can be dangerous and how they should best react.
We also focused on birds and the nests they may encounter on their routes quite frequently, informing them of the importance of certain species, and also equipping them with techniques to manage such situations.
There was a particular interest from the attendees in protecting nature and biodiversity, as through bouldering, they have daily contact with nature.
