The non-compliance of the Forestry Department, the failure to adhere to binding terms, and the repeated non-implementation of timelines are delaying the restoration of environmental damage, the redesign of hydraulic constructions, and the reduction of the environmental footprint, jeopardizing the integrity of the area.
Terra Cypria, BirdLife Cyprus, the Cyprus Wildlife Society, and the Cyprus Natural Coastline – Initiative for the Protection of Natural Coasts are calling on the Forestry Department to comply with the legally binding terms of the Special Ecological Assessment concerning the completion of Phase A of the improvement works for the main road network of the Akamas National Forest Park (ANFP). We also request the full alignment of the final construction plans with the legally binding terms of the SEA for Phase A, so that environmental damage can be fully restored, environmental impacts minimized, and the environmental footprint of the works reduced in the Natura 2000 Network areas.
