On World Earth Day, a peaceful climate protest was led by students of the Generation KlimACT.

Holding banners and shouting slogans about climate change in Cyprus, primary, secondary, and high school students gathered at Kennedy Square in Paphos on Saturday (22/04). In this way, they expressed their concern, sending a strong message to the country’s politicians to eradicate climate change.

A student who participated in the protest said: “We want change in energy and transport. The change will not come only from banning straws and plastic bags more needs to be done. We have no time left.”

The protest aimed to show that young people are aware of climate change and environmental degradation and that they demand action to ensure a better future.
