On the 22nd of March, we attended the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment to discuss the EU’s target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2023 (as per the Fit for 55).

It seems that Cyprus is far from meeting its climate targets, whilst, among other things we suggested:

  • The creation of quantitative and qualitative monitoring of climate actions and investments
  • The full decoupling of Cyprus’ economy from fossil fuels
  • The direct implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs)
  • The creation of a climate law.
