“Loumata ton Aeton” Trail
Starsts 9:30 from the Amiantos Children’s Playground
Come with us, bring appropriate clothing, and footwear, but be prepared to get tired. Good physical condition is required. Trail difficulty level: 2.
Children aged 4-10, instead of hiking, can participate in educational activities prepared by the Forest School. These activities will take place in the Amiantos excursion area, and children will need boots. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis!

Points of Interest for Hiking:
During the hike, we will identify the significant flora of the area. Besides the beautiful view of the “Loumata ton Aeton” trail towards the Kyperounda area and the Amiantos Mine, it’s worth mentioning that most of the trail was historically the route taken by the workers of the Amiantos Mine to the surrounding villages. Additionally, approximately midway through the trail, you’ll encounter the restored shelter of the EOKA fighters (1955-59).
Rest:
After the hike, we will gather at the Amiantos excursion area for hot chocolate and tea. At the same time, we will have the opportunity to learn about the historical significance of the trail from the Amiantos Community Leader, Mr. Kriton Kyriakides.
Forest School:
At the Forest School, children learn that nature is another educator with whom the closer we get and the more we collaborate, the more we learn about: ourselves, nature, the world, and their relationships. In the context of the Forest School in Amiantos, children will have the opportunity to play freely and take on short projects.
Activities will stimulate the children’s observation, curiosity, questioning, hypothesis formulation, searching for answers from multiple sources, and discovering that the search for answers can be a continuous and endless process. The activities integrate tools and means from various cognitive areas, incorporate issues related to nature and the environment, among others, and focus on the development of knowledge and primarily attitudes and skills.
The event is organized as part of the “Pandoteira” project by Terra Cypria, with the support and participation of the Amiantos Community Council and the Forest School.
