The multi-country study abroad program, “Semester at Sea”, visited Cyprus between 4-6 of November. The program is on a ship, and it’s open to all students of all majors. As part of it, 25 students aged between 18 to 22 years old visited the island as it is one of the many countries that they are visiting.
In cooperation with Friends of the Earth Cyprus (FoE Cyprus), we created a three-day program, which aims in providing students the opportunity to learn more about the Farm to Fork Strategy of the European Union. Students experienced how alternative farming systems need to be applied within the community to achieve more sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture future, that will benefit the producers the consumers the well being of the society and the environment.
Students had the chance to visit several different business models related to sustainable agriculture such as small family business, permaculture, and visitable organic farmstead.
