The Akrotiri Spring Festival took place with great success on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, marking its third consecutive year and attracting a large number of visitors of all ages.

Dedicated to the environmental and cultural significance of the Akrotiri Peninsula, the event was organized by the Kourion Municipality and the Kourion 2030 Organization, with the support of Terra Cypria – The Cyprus Environmental Protection Foundation, BirdLife Cyprus, the Environment Department of the British Bases, and the Education for Environment and Sustainable Development Unit – Akrotiri Environmental Education Centre.

Visitors had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of hands-on and creative activities, such as bird ringing, exploring the local flora and fauna, crafts using natural materials, games, and workshops including basket weaving and building nests for small birds. At the same time, they learned about the region’s endangered species, such as vultures, and the critical role biodiversity plays in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.

The festival was a wonderful opportunity for both children and adults to connect with nature and better understand the importance of protecting the environment through experience and active participation.
