We continue to actively participate in environmental education initiatives that raise awareness and bring students closer to the marine environment and the need to protect it.
Within the framework of the “Pandoteira” project, school visits are organized where students take part in interactive games and activities designed to help them explore Cyprus’ marine ecosystems. In a simple and accessible way, they learn about protected species such as sea turtles, their life cycle, the challenges they face, and the human activities that impact the marine environment.
The activities encourage students to reflect on how their own everyday choices can contribute to protecting the sea. The aim is not only to inform, but also to cultivate environmental responsibility and a meaningful connection with nature. The educational programmes are coordinated by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR) and are offered to schools free of charge by staff from DFMR, Terra Cypria, and CYMEPA (partners of the “Pandoteira” project).
We believe that meaningful change begins with knowledge, and that children who understand nature today are the citizens who will protect it tomorrow.
