Members of our team participated in the 1st cycle of the European Mission workshops, on February, 14-15, on the topic of “Climate Neutral and Smart Limassol by 2030” for the sectors of “Built Environment”, “Transport”, and “Energy”.
For each of these areas, there were qualified professionals who presented their suggestions to achieve climate neutrality in Limassol by 2030. The participants in turn had the opportunity to express their concerns, discuss and propose their own solutions.
Some of the proposals that we, as well as other participants, suggested were the immediate implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), the implementation of which is already delayed by four years, the creation of a monitoring system to track the achievement of climate and energy targets, the installation of photovoltaic panels in houses and abandoned buildings, as well as the creation of a tram line, among others. The exchange of views with other attendees, from architects and researchers to members of other environmental organisations, contributed to finding sustainable solutions whilst creating a sense of community.
