Yesterday we had the pleasure of organising an incredible event to celebrate World Biodiversity Day at Salamiou Environmental Education Centre! This event, organised under the LIFE with Vultures project, aimed to inform and inspire school children about the fascinating Griffon Vulture and the challenges it faces.
With fun and educational activities like mask making, a floor game, and a treasure hunt, approximately 180 children – from schools located in areas that are critical for the conservation of the Griffon Vulture, in the districts of Limassol and Paphos – came together to learn and have fun!
Students asked questions and showed interest in learning more about vultures; a rather good sign that could be promising a safe future for these endangered species.
Many thanks to the Salamiou Environmental Education Centre for hosting us as well as the participating schools, namely the Souni-Zanakia, Pachna, Pano Kyvides, Mandria, Timi, Anarita and Choletria elementary schools. The event was co-organized by the Unit for Education for the Environment and Sustainable Development and was supported by the project’s partner BirdLife Cyprus.
