The Pandoteira project, in collaboration with the Community Council of Agios Theodoros, organized an event in the community entitled: “Natura 2000: awareness raising and stakeholder information”, which took place on 9 March.
The event was attended by members of the Community Council, the Mayor of Agios Theodoros, Iakovos Stefanou, and residents of the village and also the surrounding villages who showed interest in the network and the areas that are protected.
The actions of the “Pandoteira” Project and the Natura 2000 network were mentioned to the Municipal Council and the public and we also gave information about the clusters that the 63 designated sites of the Natura 2000 network have been divided into through the “Pandoteira” project and about the important sites that are included in the Natura 2000 network and are located near Agios Theodoros.
During the briefing, our team developed interesting discussions with the residents, and they expressed various concerns. At the same time, potential opportunities for stakeholder and public involvement and participation were presented.
This project action is led by Terra Cypria – the Cyprus Environment Protection Foundation (Action E2.1 Organisation of information and awareness raising activities for targeted stakeholders).
