A huge “thank you” to our volunteers, because without them nothing would have been possible! While most people were enjoying their summer holidays on the beaches, our Foundation\u2019s volunteers and our team were also on the beaches\u2014but not for relaxation. We were working to protect sea turtles on some of the most important nesting beaches in the European Union.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our actions are carried out in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research of the Republic of Cyprus and the Environment Department of the British Bases in Akrotiri, in an effort to strengthen the protection of these vital species on our island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From late May until mid-September, we monitor the beaches of Lara and Toxeftra in Akamas, the beaches of Chrysochou Bay, and Lady\u2019s Mile beach, where our volunteers run the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
